S10 Automatic Transmission Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Chevrolet S10 diesel with 218,647 kilometers is experiencing automatic transmission issues, including rough shifts and emergency mode activation. The problem could be due to old transmission oil or electrical issues like undervoltage affecting the transmission control module. A workshop diagnosed the issue as undervoltage caused by worn-out transmission oil, and the solution involved a transmission flush and electrical repairs.

That's insightful! I hadn't thought about undervoltage affecting the transmission control module, but I don't know much about electrical systems. Is there an easy way to check for undervoltage as the cause of these transmission problems, or do I need special equipment?

A multimeter can give you a basic voltage reading, but intermittent undervoltage can be hard to catch without a scan tool to monitor the system in real-time. With those symptoms, especially emergency mode, it’s best to get it checked by a workshop. They can properly diagnose the electrical system and transmission. It'll save guesswork and potential damage. What do you think?

I appreciate the expert guidance! A local workshop found that undervoltage was causing the transmission to act up, ultimately due to worn-out transmission oil. The repair, including a transmission flush and fixing the electrical issue, cost 240€. Your insights were invaluable!

Sounds frustrating. Implausible shifting and emergency mode point to a transmission issue. Old fluid is likely, especially at that mileage. But undervoltage could also mess with the transmission control module. Have you checked your battery and alternator? Low voltage can cause weird electronic problems.
