S10 Check Engine Light and Fuel Consumption
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Chevrolet S10 diesel is experiencing a check engine light and increased fuel consumption, with diagnostics pointing to a faulty inlet VANOS mechanism. Thank you for the suggestion. I have not yet inspected for oil sludge or the timing chain specifically. Is this a common occurrence?

While not exceptionally common, it is certainly possible on the S10. Given the symptoms and diagnostics, the solenoid is still suspect. It might be wise to consult a workshop.

Thank you. I followed your advice and took it to a workshop. The inlet camshaft solenoid valve was indeed the culprit, and the total repair cost was 250€.

I had a similar issue with my S10. Check engine light and increased fuel consumption point to the VANOS solenoid. Have you inspected for oil sludge or timing chain issues?
