S10 Jerking Acceleration Whistling Noise

Having trouble with my 2015 Chevrolet S10 diesel. It's got about 171,726 km on the clock. Lately, the check engine light comes on, and I'm experiencing jerking when accelerating, along with a noticeable whistling and loud hissing sound, also during acceleration. Sometimes the engine even stalls at idle. I've also noticed higher fuel consumption and a general lack of engine power. I suspect it might be a bad boost pressure sensor. I've checked the obvious things like the air intake for any loose connections or damage, but everything seems okay visually. I'm leaning towards a faulty cable or plug connection to the sensor itself. Anyone else experienced something similar?

Summary of the thread

The 2015 Chevrolet S10 diesel was experiencing jerking during acceleration, a whistling noise, increased fuel consumption, and occasional stalling, with the check engine light on. The suspected cause was a faulty boost pressure sensor or its connections. After cleaning the sensor connections with contact cleaner didn't resolve the issue, a mechanic confirmed the sensor was faulty and replaced it, resolving the problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey! That sounds eerily familiar. I had almost the exact same symptoms in my old Opel Corsa a few years back. Check engine light, weird noises when accelerating, and the whole shebang. Turned out to be a boost leak, and yeah, the pressure sensor was involved. Did you properly check the sensor connections? Maybe use some contact cleaner spray?

Thanks for the reply! When you say "properly" check the sensor connections, what exactly do you mean? I visually inspected them, but I haven't done anything beyond that. Was there a specific area that was causing the problem on your Corsa, or was it just generally corroded?

Alright, what I mean is, sometimes a visual check isn't enough. The connector might look okay from the outside, but inside, the pins can be corroded or loose. Try unplugging the sensor, giving the pins a good clean with electrical contact cleaner, and making sure the connector clicks firmly back into place. If that doesn't solve it, you're probably looking at a faulty sensor or something more serious. Honestly, at that point, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. Could save you a lot of hassle.

Thanks for the detailed advice! I followed your suggestion and cleaned the sensor connections with contact cleaner, but unfortunately, that didn't fix the problem. I took it to a local mechanic, and it turns out the boost pressure sensor was indeed faulty. They replaced it for 95€, and now everything is running smoothly again. Appreciate your help!
