S10 solar sensor fault
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Chevy S10 is experiencing a solar sensor fault, leading to insufficient heating output. The issue may be due to a bad connection to the solar sensor, which is crucial for regulating the vehicle's heating and cooling systems. The sensor is typically located on the dashboard near the windshield. Checking the cable or plug connection might resolve the issue, but if it's difficult to access, professional assistance may be necessary.

Good to know it's likely related. The error code was pointing directly to the solar sensor circuit. Is it easy to check the cable or plug connection? Where is the solar sensor located anyway?

Okay, since you've got a direct error, then it is pretty clear where the problem lies. The sensor is usually on the dashboard near the windshield. Sadly, I don't know the exact position in your car. I fiddled around with my Corsa for ages before I went to the workshop. And yes, in the end the bill was about 100€ (95€ in your case sounds realistic).

Thanks for the advice! I'll check the location and connections, but if it is difficult to reach, I'll take it to a workshop. At 95€, it isn't worth tinkering forever, I guess.

Hello! Yes, I had a similar issue with my Opel Corsa, although it was the temperature sensor. The car's computer uses the solar sensor (also known as a sunlight sensor) to help regulate the heating and cooling. If the sensor isn't reading correctly due to a bad connection, the heating output can be affected. Was the error code specific?
