S2000 control unit communication error
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Honda S2000 is experiencing a control unit communication error, leading to engine overheating, a persistent check engine light, and coolant spills. The suspected cause is a defective cable or plug connection. After inspecting the plugs for corrosion and proper seating, it was suggested to take the car to a workshop. The issue was confirmed to be a faulty connector, which was repaired at a cost.

Yes, I have inspected the plugs for corrosion and proper seating, but not with diagnostic gear. What data link would you suggest focusing on first?

If you have checked the obvious plug connections then that's a good step. Given the symptoms and communication error, sounds like it could be more than just a loose wire. Maybe you should take it to a workshop, the error might be more than just that.

It was as you suggested. I took the S2000 to a shop, and as it turns out, it was indeed a faulty connector. Repair cost was 95€ to get it sorted. Appreciate the insight!

A control module communication error, eh? Is the diagnostic trouble code pointing to a specific data link? Might be a wiring issue somewhere. Have you checked the obvious plug connections?
