S2000 Cranks But Wont Start
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Honda S2000 with a gasoline engine cranks but won't start, leading to a suspicion of an engine control malfunction. A suggestion was made to check the battery cable connections for cleanliness and tightness, as corrosion or loose connections can cause starting issues. Upon inspection, it was found that the battery cable connections were indeed the problem, and after cleaning and tightening them, the car started successfully.

Thanks for the tip! I will definitely check the battery cable connections. When you had this problem, did the engine light illuminate? And how did you eventually diagnose the issue as bad cable connections of the battery?

Yeah, the engine light did come on, which sent me down the wrong path initially thinking it was a fuel injection or ECU issue. But no, I just got lucky. Before spending money on diagnostics, double-check those connections, and if that doesn't fix it, I recommend a visit to a trusted workshop for proper engine diagnostics.

I appreciate your advice! It turned out to be exactly as you said – the cable connections of the battery were indeed the culprit. A good clean and tighten, and she fired right up! The total cost was 155€, I replaced them. Thanks again!

Hey! I had a similar problem with my S2000 a while back. Check your battery cable connections first. Sounds stupid simple, but that was it in my case. Are they clean and tight? Is there any corrosion? When you turn the key, does the engine light come on?
