S40 Air Suspension Lean

Hi, I've got a 2005 Volvo S40 with a gasoline engine. Recently, the car seems to be having trouble with what I suspect might be the air suspension. It started with a noticeable lean to one side, and now it won't lift at all. Plus, I'm getting an error message on the speedometer and a bumpy ride. The error memory also has a fault stored. My local garage thinks it's a faulty air suspension bellows valve. Anyone else experienced this?

I had a similar problem with my S40. Have you checked for any signs of an air leak around the air springs themselves? It could be that the system is losing pressure, which is why you're experiencing those symptoms.

Thanks for the reply! I haven't specifically checked for an air leak. Where exactly should I be looking around the air springs? Is there a particular area that's prone to leaking?

Given the symptoms and that error code, it really does sound like your suspension air bag valve has failed, especially with the vehicle leaning. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. Ignoring it could lead to further issues.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions! I appreciate the advice; I'll book it in with a trusted mechanic. They quoted around 590€ for the repairs – sounds about right. Cheers!
