S40 Automatic Temperature Control Failure

I'm having a bizarre issue with my 2000 Volvo S40 diesel. The automatic temperature control has completely given up! The air conditioning refuses to kick in, and I've got an error code stored that points to the interior temperature sensor. I suspect it's a dodgy cable or plug connection. Has anyone else encountered this? It's driving me nuts!

Summary of the thread

A 2000 Volvo S40 diesel is experiencing a failure in the automatic temperature control system, with the air conditioning not functioning and an error code indicating an issue with the interior temperature sensor. The problem is suspected to be due to a faulty cable or plug connection. A similar issue was resolved by taking the car to a workshop, suggesting that professional repair might be necessary to fix the problem.

I had something similar happen in my S40. Is the sensor completely dead, or is it just acting erratically?

Good question! It seems completely dead. No response whatsoever. Did yours also throw an error code related to the sensor?

Yep, same symptoms, same error code. In the end, I just bit the bullet and took it to a workshop. They sorted it out pretty quickly.

Thanks for confirming! I was hoping it was something simple, but it sounds like a trip to the shop is inevitable. I've booked it in and they quoted me 95€, so hopefully that will fix it. Thanks again for the help!
