S40 Climate Control AC Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Volvo S40 is experiencing a climate control issue where the AC isn't cooling properly, and the rear vents seem non-functional. The problem might be due to a bad rear ventilation flap, a refrigerant issue, or a faulty compressor. A full system diagnostic is recommended to identify error codes, particularly related to the rear ventilation flap motor or its circuit. The issue was resolved by addressing a cable problem, as indicated by the error memory.

Yeah, the climate control is always on auto. What do you mean by diagnostics? Like, a full scan for error codes?

Yep, a full system scan should show if there are any specific codes related to the rear ventilation flap motor or its circuit. Given that the rear vents seem dead and you have a stored error, my gut feeling is still pointing to a problem with the wiring or connector for that flap. Could be a loose connection. Though, I'd still suggest a workshop visit, it might be more complicated than just a loose plug.

Thanks! Sounds like I should get it checked. The error memory did say something about the ventilation flap. I'll get it looked at. The invoice came in at 95€, it was indeed the cable!

Hmm, a bad rear ventilation flap could definitely cause those symptoms. Is the climate control set to automatic? If so, the system may be trying to adjust the rear airflow and failing. But usually, when the AC isn't cooling properly, I'd expect it to be a refrigerant issue or maybe a faulty compressor. Have you had the system diagnostics run?
