S40 Diesel Cooling Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Volvo S40 diesel was experiencing cooling system issues, including an inaccurate temperature display, a check engine light, and delayed warming up. The problem was identified as restricted airflow around the cooling grille, confirmed by a workshop inspection. Cleaning and repairing the blockage resolved the issue, resulting in smoother engine performance.

Yes, the engine seems to work harder at higher speeds. The coolant level looks normal. Can you tell me more about the restricted airflow issue? Was it a simple blockage?

My restricted airflow was a partial blockage of the radiator fins. I took it to a workshop. I'd advise getting yours checked out, it may be the same thing.

Following your suggestion, a local workshop confirmed my cooling grille was restricted. The repair, including cleaning and inspection, cost 52€. The car runs smoothly now. Thanks!

I had similar issues with my S40 diesel. It was restricted airflow around the cooling grille. Never thought of checking a fuse though. Was the engine working harder than usual, especially at higher speeds? How's the coolant level?
