S40 Diesel Engine Mount Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Volvo S40 diesel is experiencing uneven idling and stored error codes, potentially due to a defective engine mount or faulty wiring. The issue is accompanied by increased vibrations in the steering wheel and seats, particularly at lower speeds. It is suggested to avoid self-repair of the wiring unless skilled in automotive electrics, and instead, have a workshop inspect and possibly replace the engine mount to resolve the problem.

Yes, there's more vibration in the steering wheel and seats, mostly at lower speeds. I'll get the exact error code later. If it's a wiring problem with the mount, should I try to repair the wiring myself, or just replace the whole mount?

The added vibration makes the engine mount seem like the problem. I wouldn't try to repair the wiring unless you're an expert in automotive electrics. A bad repair could cause more problems. A new engine mount is about 95€, so I'd suggest taking it to a workshop for inspection and replacement.

Thanks, I'll book an appointment with a workshop to get the engine mount checked and replaced if needed. It's good to know my initial thought was on the right track. Thanks again.

Uneven idling and a stored error code definitely suggest engine mount issues, especially with that mileage. Have you noticed any unusual vibrations, particularly when accelerating or decelerating? What's the error code?
