S40 Fog Sensor Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Volvo S40 is experiencing issues with the fog sensor, leading to problems with the air conditioning, spray nozzles, and mirror heating. The error code specifically points to a fog sensor malfunction. Potential causes include a defective cable or plug connection, or possibly a need for sensor recalibration. It is suggested to take the car to a workshop for professional diagnosis and repair, as similar issues have been resolved with electrical fixes.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the sensor calibration, to be honest, I'm not even sure how to do that. As for the error code, it does specifically mention the fog sensor malfunction. Could a simple recalibration really fix all those symptoms? Seems like a lot!

Hmm, a specific fog sensor error and all those other issues... yes, I experienced precisely the same with my S40. Considering everything you've described, and the fact that the error is fog sensor specific, I'd advise taking it to a workshop. I ended up paying about 95€ for them to sort out the electrical issue. Saved me a lot of time and potential further problems.

Okay, thanks for confirming. I suspected it might be more than I could handle myself. I'll book it in with a local garage and hopefully, it will be a simple fix like yours. Cheers!

Sounds familiar! I have an S40 myself. I had a similar set of problems a while back. Have you checked the sensor calibration, or maybe the humidity sensor itself? Is the error code specific to the fog sensor, or is it more generic?
