S40 Rail Pressure Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Volvo S40 with a gasoline engine is experiencing issues such as the check engine light turning on, engine stalling at idle, and reduced engine power. The suspected cause is a faulty rail pressure sensor signal. Replacing the pressure sensor improved the starting issue, and a workshop visit confirmed the sensor was faulty, leading to its repair.

Yes, it was also hard to start. Did replacing the pressure sensor fix it?

Sounds like the pressure sensor. It improved starting, but I took it to a workshop to get it sorted properly.

Thanks. The pressure sensor was indeed faulty. Repair cost 240€.

I had similar symptoms with my S40. Check engine light and stalling. Was it also hard to start?
