S40 rough running and stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Volvo S40 was experiencing rough running, stalling, and jerking during acceleration, with the check engine light on. The initial suspicion was a faulty fuel pressure sensor. However, it was suggested to first inspect the sensor cable and plug connection for corrosion or damage. Upon checking, the issue was indeed with the cable connection, which was resolved by cleaning and replacing a section of the wiring, leading to the car running smoothly again.

Thanks, I'll check that! Where exactly is the fuel pressure sensor located? I want to make sure I'm looking at the right cable and plug.

It's on the fuel rail, but without diagnostic equipment, you are guessing. With these symptoms and fault codes, a workshop visit is inevitable. Just check the cables first, but don't invest too much time.

You were right, it was the cable connection. I took it to the workshop, they cleaned it up and replaced a section of the wiring, and the car runs like new! Cost me 95€, which is way better than a new sensor. Thanks for the tip!

Rough running and stalling on an S40 often points to fuel delivery issues. Have you checked the sensor cable and plug connection for corrosion or damage? That's usually the culprit. Before condemning the sensor, give those connections a look.
