S40 Seat Heater Failure

Alright Volvo gurus, I've got a head-scratcher. My 2000 Volvo S40 with a gasoline engine is giving me grief. The seat heater's gone kaput at 122166 km. No warmth whatsoever, and the diagnostics are showing an error code. Sounds like the heating mat's the culprit, right? Anyone else battled this beast?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my S40. Does the backrest heat up at all, or is it completely dead? Have you checked the thermal sensor under the seat? It could be sending faulty readings to the temperature control unit.

Good call on the thermal sensor, hadn't thought of that! But no, it is completely dead. Any idea what the diagnostic readings were on yours, or should I just bite the bullet and take it to the shop?

Mine was completely dead too. I could try to look up what the error code was on mine, but honestly, it'll probably be easier and faster to have a workshop take a look. They can pinpoint the exact problem and save you a lot of time and hassle.

You're probably right. Workshop it is. They're quoting me around 390€, so I guess that confirms the heating element being busted. Thanks for the input! Saved me a lot of time by having a second opinion.
