S40 Stalling Idle Check Engine Light

Okay, hissing can be faint, so listen carefully near the rear. The purge valve is usually near the engine, follow the lines coming from the charcoal canister. As for the code, I honestly can't remember exactly what it was. It's been a while. But if you are not confident, I would recommend going to the workshop. I had the same symptoms and it was a defective activated charcoal filter.

Turns out it WAS the charcoal filter, as you suspected! Cost me 275€ to get it sorted, but at least the stalling is gone!
