S40 Turn Signal Error
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Volvo S40 is experiencing a turn signal error, indicated by a warning in the speedometer and an error stored in memory. The issue is likely due to a fault in the lighting system, possibly caused by a dodgy cable, flaky connector, or a faulty flasher relay. It is suggested to check the connections and the flasher relay, located near the fuse box behind the glove compartment, before considering professional repair.

Intermittent at first, yeah. Where exactly is the flasher relay located? I'd rather start with that before digging into the light assembly itself.

Okay, intermittent points even more to bad connections. The flasher relay... hmm, without looking at a diagram again, I believe it's somewhere near the fuse box, behind the glove compartment. Honestly, though, if you're not comfortable poking around in there, maybe just bite the bullet and take it to a shop. I ended up doing that, and it cost me around 95€ to fix. Diagnostic time, plus reseating some connectors. Saved me a headache!

Sounds like a plan. I'll check the connections first, and if that fails, off to the workshop it goes. Cheers for the help!

Ugh, I had something similar on my S40, what a pain! Was it intermittent at first? I'm betting it's either a dodgy cable or a flaky connector on the indicator light assembly itself. Check the flasher relay too, just in case. Those things can cause all sorts of weird electrical gremlins.
