S60 AC failure
Summary of the thread
The 2004 Volvo S60 diesel's air conditioning system stopped working, displaying an error and warning light. The issue was suspected to be either a faulty AC compressor or a refrigerant leak. However, after further investigation, it was determined that the problem was a defective air conditioning control unit, which required professional repair.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't checked the refrigerant level myself, as I don't have the tools. I can't hear the compressor engaging at all when I press the AC button. Any thoughts on where to go from here?

Hmm, if the compressor isn't engaging and there's an error code, it could well be the AC control unit. I had a similar issue, and it turned out the control unit was defective. I would probably take it to a professional workshop to get it properly diagnosed.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice! I took it to a mechanic, and you were spot on. The air conditioning control unit was defective. Cost me 980€ to get it fixed. Thanks again for your help!

Sounds like AC unit issues, alright. Have you checked the refrigerant level, or if the compressor is even kicking on when you hit the AC button? Is there any unusual noise when you try to turn on AC?
