S60 check engine light and power loss

My 2016 Volvo S60 hybrid with 35097 km has the check engine light on, reduced power, and poor engine response. I'm hearing a whistling noise and a loud hissing when accelerating. Sometimes the engine stalls at idle, and fuel consumption is higher. Could this be the boost pressure actuator?

I had similar symptoms on my S60. It sounds like a defective electrical bypass valve, like a kink in the garden hose affecting water pressure. Have you checked the turbo wastegate or actuator valve? A faulty pressure sensor could also cause these issues.

Thanks for the info. I haven't checked the valve yet. How can I be sure it's the actuator and not something else?

Confirming the actuator is tricky without proper diagnostics. Given your symptoms, it's highly probable. To be safe, I suggest taking it to a workshop for a diagnosis. My repair cost around 250€.
