S60 Diesel PTC Heater Issue

I'm experiencing some issues with my 2002 Volvo S60 diesel. Mileage is currently at 73730 km. I believe I have a PTC heater problem. Symptoms include poor engine running in the cold start phase, an error stored in the error memory, and inexplicably higher fuel consumption. All signs point toward the electric auxiliary heater being defective.

Sounds similar to a problem I had with my old Renault Megane, although it was a petrol engine. Cold air blowing when it should be warm, like the heater's on strike? Any chance it's something like a blown fuse or a relay switch sticking before you go ripping things apart?

I've already checked the usual suspects; fuses and relays are fine. My suspicion is that the heating element within the PTC heater itself has failed. Did your Renault exhibit the same error code situation?

Ah, you've gone deeper than I did! On the Megane, the diagnostics were as clear as mud. I ended up taking it to a garage where they confirmed the auxiliary heater was toast. Best to get it checked out, it sounds like you know what you are talking about.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. It seems a trip to the workshop is unavoidable. Just got a quote - looks like around 350€ to sort it all out. I'll post again when it’s fixed.
