S60 Fuel Level Sensor Fault

Hi, I have a 2015 Volvo S60 hybrid with 137103 km on the clock. Recently, the check engine light keeps coming on, and the engine occasionally stalls at idle. I scanned the error memory, and it points to a fuel level sensor fault. Could this be a simple fix like a defective fuse, or am I looking at something more complex?

The fuel level sensor issue in your S60 is interesting. A defective fuse is a plausible cause, acting as a tripped circuit breaker, but the intermittent stalling suggests a potentially deeper problem. Have you noticed if the fuel gauge reading is erratic or inaccurate before the stalling occurs? Knowing that would help narrow down the possibilities.

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't really paid close attention to the fuel gauge during the stalling. Is there a specific test I can perform to check the fuel level sensor or its wiring before I assume the worst?

Considering the symptoms and the error code, it's advisable to consult a workshop. While a visual inspection of the wiring harness for damage is worthwhile, diagnosing sensor faults often requires specialized tools to interpret the data stream. Similar to checking the oil level on a dipstick, you need the correct tools to read the sensor's digital output.

Understood. I took your advice and brought it to the workshop. It turned out to be a faulty fuse, just as we suspected. Repair cost me 52€. Thanks for your help!
