S60 Key Fob Issues

Hey, I've got a weird one with my 2001 Volvo S60 (gasoline engine). The car keeps saying the key battery is low. Keyless access is dead, there's an error stored, and unlocking/locking is acting up. Think it's just the battery in the key fob?

Summary of the thread

A 2001 Volvo S60 owner experienced issues with the key fob, including low battery warnings, non-functional keyless access, and erratic locking/unlocking. The problem was suspected to be the key fob battery. After considering trying a spare key and the possibility of needing professional assistance, the issue was resolved by replacing the key fob battery at a local shop.

Sounds familiar! I had similar troubles with my S60. Keyless entry stopped working, and the range for the buttons got terrible. Did you try the spare key? Does it do the same thing?

Good idea about the spare key! I'll try that. But if it IS just the battery... dealer trip, or can I do it myself?

If the spare key shows the same problem it is likely not the battery. Sadly, while technically doable, I would suggest getting it checked by a trusted workshop. They needed to reprogram the key afterwards. Better safe than sorry!

Thanks for the advice! It WAS just the battery in my key fob. Went to the local shop, 37€ later all sorted! Appreciate the help!
