S60 Overheating Air Flap Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Volvo S60 is experiencing engine overheating and a check engine light, with a diagnostic scan revealing an active air flap fault. The issue appears to be related to a defective electromechanism, specifically the flap motor. The suggested solution is to visit a workshop for repair, as similar cases have been resolved by addressing the flap motor problem.

Yes, the diagnostic scan indicated a fault with the active air flap. Did your scan point to the same issue, specifically with the grille shutter or flap motor?

Yes, the scan indicated a problem with the flap motor. Given the symptoms, it's likely the cause. I'd suggest visiting a workshop. They quoted me 590€ for the repair.

I had something similar with my S60. Check engine light and overheating were the key symptoms. Did you perform a diagnostic scan?
