S60 Overheating Electric Fan Issue

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2005 Volvo S60 with a gasoline engine. It's overheating, and I suspect the electric fan isn't working. The car has 153148 km on the clock. I've checked the fuses, and they seem fine. Could it be a faulty cable or plug connection to the fan motor? Has anyone experienced something similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2005 Volvo S60 is experiencing overheating issues, suspected to be due to a non-functional electric fan. Initial checks of the fuses showed no problems, leading to suspicion of a faulty cable or plug connection to the fan motor. A similar case was resolved by addressing a defective plug connection, which was confirmed and fixed by a mechanic for 95€.

Hey, I had a similar issue with my S60. Overheating can be a real pain. Did you check the fan clutch as well? Is the electric motor getting power?

Thanks for the quick reply! Where exactly is the fan clutch located, and how can I easily check if the electric motor is getting power? Is it something I can test with a multimeter?

Okay, so I had a defective plug connection. But, honestly, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They'll diagnose it properly. It cost me 95€.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a mechanic, and you were right – it was a faulty plug connection to the electric fan. They fixed it for 95€, just like you said. Appreciate the help!
