S60 reduced engine power
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Volvo S60 is experiencing reduced engine power, poor response, and increased fuel consumption, with a check engine light indicating a crankshaft to camshaft reference value error. The issue could be caused by a defective crankshaft sensor, as suggested by the OBD reader. A faulty cam sensor might also contribute to the problem. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle checked by a mechanic, who confirmed the crankshaft sensor was defective and repaired it.

Misfire codes? No, I only saw the crankshaft/camshaft reference value error. Timing belt was changed 2 years ago. Could a faulty cam sensor really cause that reference value issue?

Yes, it's possible. In my case, the reference value error pointed to a faulty crankshaft sensor. Given all the symptoms, it might be best to get it checked at a workshop. They can properly diagnose it.

Thanks for the help! Took it to a mechanic and you were right, the crankshaft sensor was defective. Cost me 340€ to repair.

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my S60. Did you check for any misfire codes? It could also be related to the cam sensor. Has the timing belt been changed recently?
