S60 rough starts and stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Volvo S60 with a gasoline engine is experiencing rough starts, increased fuel consumption, reduced engine power, and uneven idling, sometimes leading to stalling. The suspected cause is a defective injection nozzle, likely due to a dirty injection valve. After consulting a mechanic, the diagnosis was confirmed, and replacing the faulty injection nozzle resolved the issues, restoring smooth operation.

Yes, the issues are markedly worse when the engine is cold. It takes longer to start, and the idling is particularly rough during the initial minutes. After the engine warms up somewhat, the symptoms improve, but they do not entirely disappear. Does this align with your experience?

Sounds very familiar. For me, it was a faulty injector. Get it checked at a workshop, they can test the injectors individually.

Following your recommendation, I took my Volvo to a trusted mechanic. They confirmed the diagnosis of a defective injection nozzle, with the primary cause being a dirty injection valve, as I suspected. The replacement cost amounted to 515€. Now, my Volvo runs smoothly again, thanks to your help!

Hey, I had similar issues on my old Renault Megane, but with a diesel engine. Rough starts, poor mileage, and stalling. Is it worse when the engine is cold?
