S80 boost pressure control fault

Help! My 2012 Volvo S80 diesel is throwing a 'boost pressure control fault'. The check engine light is on, power is way down, and the engine response is terrible. Fuel consumption has also gone up. I've checked for obvious leaks in the hoses, but nothing jumps out. Anyone seen this before?

Sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms on my S80. The boost controller can be a pain. Has it been getting gradually worse, or did it just suddenly happen?

It was pretty sudden, actually. One minute everything was fine, the next, BAM! Check engine light and limp mode. What exactly was your issue, and what did it cost to fix?

Yeah, sudden failure points to a vacuum switching valve, or the boost solenoid failing. Unfortunately, you'll probably need to get it checked out at a workshop, the sensors and bypass valve can be a cause too. Cost me around 140€ to replace the faulty valve. Good luck!

Thanks for the info! Took it to the shop, and you were spot on – faulty vacuum switching valve. 140€ later, and she's running like new! Cheers!
