S80 Heating Output Too Low

I have a 2000 Volvo S80 with a diesel engine. The error memory stores a solar sensor fault, and the heating output is too low. Could a defective cable or plug connection be the cause?

Summary of the thread

The initial problem was low heating output in a 2000 Volvo S80, with a solar sensor fault stored in the error memory. A defective cable or plug connection was suspected as a possible cause. A suggestion was made to check the temperature sensor calibration, which led to the discovery of a defective cable. After replacing the cable at a workshop, the heating issue was resolved.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had similar symptoms in my S80. The temperature sensor might be the culprit. Did you try checking the sensor calibration?

Thanks for the suggestion. Where exactly is the temperature sensor located, and is any special procedure necessary for checking its calibration?

I did not check the sensor calibration myself. I took it to a workshop. They confirmed the sensor fault and replaced a defective cable. I recommend you do the same.

Thank you for the advice. I followed your suggestion and visited a workshop. The cable was indeed defective; the final repair cost was 95€. The heating now works as expected.
