Thanks for the suggestion! I did scan it, and it pointed towards the injection system. I suspect a cable or plug connection. But where exactly should I be looking for these connections? Is there a common culprit on the S80?

Right, injection system… I remember a friend of mine had similar issues with his V70, and it drove him nuts. He ended up taking it to a workshop. Probably the best course of action, to be honest. Messing with fuel injection without proper tools can be risky. At least they can pinpoint the exact cause.

You were right. Took it to the shop; faulty connection in the injection system. Cost me 95€ to fix. Runs like new again. Thanks for the nudge!

Whoa, that sounds rough! I had similar issues with my old '98 Passat back in the day. Turned out to be a dodgy sensor. Have you had any error codes pop up? Maybe plug in an OBD2 scanner and see what it says. Could be air flow related, messing with the fuel/air mix. Is it worse when the engine is cold?
