Having issues with my 2011 Volvo S80 diesel. 190,000 km. Getting a 'Reduced Engine Power' message and battery warning light. Car starts rough, lights flicker. Error code stored. Suspect the generator. Similar experiences?

I had almost the exact same symptoms on my S80! Reduced power, warning lights, the works. Have you checked the voltage regulator on the generator?

Thanks! I haven't checked the voltage regulator specifically, but I was leaning towards replacing the entire generator. Was it definitely the voltage regulator in your case, or did you end up replacing the whole thing?

For me, it was easier and safer just to get the whole generator replaced. Save yourself the trouble and go to a workshop. Good luck!
