S80 rough running stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Volvo S80 was experiencing rough running, stalling, and a check engine light. The issue was suspected to be related to the fuel system, possibly the fuel pressure sensor or its connections. After checking the fuel injector, it was suggested to inspect the fuel pressure sensor's cable or plug connection for defects. The problem was confirmed to be a corroded cable on the fuel pressure sensor, which was replaced, resolving the issue.

Fuel pressure sensor, huh? Where exactly is that located, and how did you figure out that was the problem? And how much did it cost you to fix, if you don't mind me asking? I'm trying to avoid a huge bill, but this is driving me crazy!

Yeah, it was a pain to diagnose! I honestly can't remember where it's located. I would check on the internet. I remember the same symptoms, and the garage checked everything, and it turned out the cable or plug connection on the fuel pressure sensor was defective! Honestly, I'd get it checked out by a workshop, if I were you. They have the tools to properly diagnose it.

Thanks a bunch for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on – it was the fuel pressure sensor cable! Apparently, it was corroded. They replaced it and the sensor, and the car is running like new again! The total came to 95€, which I'm happy to pay to have this sorted. Really appreciate the help!

Wow, that sounds frustrating! I have an S80 too, and I had something similar happen a while back. Check engine light, rough idling…yep, been there. For me, it ended up being a dodgy fuel pressure sensor. It might be worth checking the sensor's cable or plug connection. A loose or corroded connection can cause all sorts of weird issues like engine misfire!
