S80 Seat Heater Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Volvo S80 owner reported a non-functioning seat heater, suspecting the heating mat as the cause. Both the seat and back heating elements were not working, and an error was stored. A suggestion was made to check the thermal sensor, but ultimately, a workshop diagnosed the issue as a defective seat heating mat, which was then repaired.

Thanks for the quick reply. Neither the back nor the seat heating elements are functioning. Where is the thermal sensor located and how do I check it? I want to try everything before a potentially expensive repair.

Ah, if neither is working, it does sound like the mat. My issue was just the seat. Honestly, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. Diagnosing electrical issues can be a real headache. They'll be able to pinpoint the problem quickly.

Thanks for the advice. I went to a workshop, and they said it was a defective seat heating mat. The repair cost 390€. Thanks again for your help.

I had a similar issue with my S80. Does the back heating work, or is the problem only with the seat? Have you checked the thermal sensor?
