S80 Sunroof Not Initialized Error
Summary of the thread
The issue with the 2007 Volvo S80 was a "sunroof not initialized" error, causing the sunblind to get stuck and the convertible top to be unresponsive. This problem likely stemmed from recent coding changes, particularly affecting the Central Electronic Module (CEM). The suggested solution was to recalibrate the sunroof, which was successfully resolved by a workshop using VIDA diagnostic tools.

Thanks, I'll try the reset procedure. Just to be clear, what’s the exact sequence you're referring to? Also, the coding primarily targeted the ECU, but there were some adaptations made to the CEM as well. Could that be related, even if indirectly?

The sequence varies by model year, so check your owner's manual for the precise steps. Since the CEM was touched, it's quite possible that's the root cause. The sunroof module communicates via the CEM. It would be best to have a workshop perform the calibration with their diagnostic tool.

Thanks for the insight, I appreciate it! Took it to the shop as you suggested. Turns out the sunroof calibration was indeed messed up after the coding. They reinitialized it using VIDA. Cost me 75€ but everything works fine now.

Sounds like a calibration issue, possibly triggered by the coding. Can you try recalibrating the sunroof? Sometimes a specific sequence of holding the sunroof button can reset it. Also, did the coding affect any other modules related to body control or comfort features?
