S80 throttle valve issue
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Volvo S80 diesel is experiencing higher fuel consumption and poor starts, with diagnostics indicating a faulty accelerator pedal module. Another individual with similar symptoms suggested checking for carbon buildup in the throttle body, which can mimic sensor issues. However, the problem persisted until the accelerator pedal module was replaced, resolving the issue.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have checked, but found no excessive carbon buildup. Did cleaning the throttle body resolve the problem for you, or was there something else?

In my case, cleaning didn't fix it permanently. The symptoms returned shortly after. Ultimately, I had to have the accelerator pedal module replaced. I suggest a visit to a workshop.

Thanks. Following your advice, I took it to the workshop, and it was indeed a defective accelerator pedal module. The repair cost was 205€. Problem solved.

I had similar symptoms on my S80. Higher fuel consumption and difficulty starting. Have you checked the throttle body for excessive carbon buildup? A dirty throttle valve can cause issues with air intake and throttle position, mimicking a faulty sensor.
