S80 Transmission Oil Pressure Sensor Issue

I've got a 2002 Volvo S80 with a gasoline engine that's done 221403 km. The engine and transmission warning lights are on. Diagnostics point to the transmission oil pressure sensor. The gearbox seems to be in emergency mode, slipping, shifting badly, and sometimes grinding when changing gears. Could this be a low gearbox oil level?

Hey! I also drive an S80 and your issues sound really familiar. When my transmission started acting up like that – slipping and shifting weirdly – it turned out to be a sensor fault. Is it acting like a clogged artery, not letting the oil flow properly and messing with the pressure?

That's an interesting analogy. Can you tell me the specific sensor and what you did before fixing it? I'm trying to avoid an expensive repair if I can do it myself.

I can't recall the exact sensor name, but I remember it was related to the transmission oil pressure. I didn't mess with it myself, as transmissions are like a house of cards – mess with one thing, and everything falls apart. Took it straight to a trusted workshop, and they sorted it out. Saved me a massive headache!

Based on your recommendation, I took it to a workshop. The fault was the transmission oil pressure sensor. After replacing it and topping up the fluid, the issue is resolved. It cost 365€. Your input helped me get it fixed quickly.
