It seemed to appear suddenly; there wasn't any specific event that triggered the gear shift indicator issue. Do you remember what the eventual repair was for you? Did it also involve a control unit?

Yes, in my case, the workshop confirmed it was a faulty control unit related to the gear shift. Given your symptoms and the error codes, I'd strongly recommend taking it to a trusted mechanic for a proper diagnosis. It might be the same issue, but better safe than sorry.

Thanks for the info. I'll get it checked out at the workshop ASAP. I'm expecting the repair cost to be around 1000€, so it's good to have an idea of what to expect. Appreciate the help!

Interesting. I drive an S90 as well, and that sounds awfully similar to a problem I had a while back. If I recall, the symptoms were almost identical: implausible shifting behavior, gear selection display going haywire. Was there any specific event that triggered it, or did it just appear out of nowhere?
