S90 Injection System Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Volvo S90 diesel is experiencing issues such as higher fuel consumption, reduced engine power, occasional engine stalls at idle, and smoke during acceleration, leading to suspicions of a faulty injection system. The problem was suspected to be a defective cable or plug connection. A similar issue was resolved by addressing a corroded connector on one of the injectors, which caused intermittent misfires. The solution involved having the car checked at a workshop, confirming the defective plug connection, and repairing it.

Thanks for the quick response. The engine performance is indeed choppy. What exactly was the issue with your S90, and how did you resolve it? I'm trying to avoid unnecessary expenses.

Mine turned out to be a corroded connector on one of the injectors. Really hard to spot. It was causing intermittent misfires, which led to all those symptoms. Honestly, just take it to a workshop. They'll diagnose it properly and save you time and money in the long run.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I had the car checked, and you were right. It was indeed a defective plug connection as I originally suspected. The repair cost 95€.

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my S90. Has the engine performance been choppy? Increased air flow can cause this, so check all the hoses for leaks. A bad fuel filter can also affect engine performance and cause it to stall. Any recent work done on the fuel system?
