S90 Wastegate Failure

I'm having issues with my 2022 Volvo S90, gasoline engine, with 151104 km. Check engine light is on, experiencing reduced engine power and poor engine response. Sometimes it even stalls at idle. Fuel consumption is also up. I'm also hearing a whistling noise, turning into a loud hissing sound when accelerating. I suspect a bad boost pressure system. Any ideas?

Sounds familiar. I've got a Volvo S90 too, and those symptoms scream wastegate valve issues. The whistling and hissing, combined with the power loss and increased fuel consumption, are pretty classic. Have you noticed any turbo lag?

Yeah, I think there's definitely some turbo lag. So, you reckon it's the wastegate for sure? What did you do to fix it?

While I can't say for sure without a proper diagnosis, all signs point to the wastegate. I’d recommend taking it to a reputable shop. They'll be able to confirm the diagnosis and get it sorted. I had to get mine replaced, costing around 860€.

Thanks for the input! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on – it was indeed a defect in the wastegate valve. They replaced it, and everything's back to normal. Cost me around 860€ too. Cheers!
