Safrane Jerking Whistling Hissing
Summary of the thread
The 2000 Renault Safrane was experiencing jerking during acceleration, a whistling noise, hissing sounds, increased fuel consumption, reduced engine power, and occasional stalling at idle, with the check engine light on. The initial suspicion was a bad boost pressure sensor, but the cable and plug connections appeared fine. A suggestion was made to check for intake manifold leaks, as they could cause similar symptoms. Ultimately, the issue was resolved by replacing a defective boost pressure sensor cable, restoring the car's performance.

Thanks for the tip! I haven't checked the intake manifold itself, just the sensor connections. Could a leak there really cause all those issues?

Yes, definitely. A leak there affects the boost pressure, which would explain the symptoms. To be honest, it's probably best to take it to a workshop. They'll be able to diagnose it properly.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and it turned out to be a defective boost pressure sensor cable. They replaced it, and now it runs like a champ again. Repair cost me 95€.

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my Renault Safrane. Have you checked the intake manifold for leaks?
