Safrane Jerking Whistling Hissing

Hi, I'm having some trouble with my 2000 Renault Safrane, diesel engine, 215713 km on the clock. The check engine light is on, and the car is jerking when I accelerate. I'm also hearing a whistling noise and a loud hissing when accelerating. Sometimes the engine even stalls at idle. Fuel consumption has gone up, and the engine power feels reduced. I suspect a bad boost pressure sensor. I've checked the cable and plug connection, but they seem fine. Any ideas?

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my Renault Safrane. Have you checked the intake manifold for leaks?

Thanks for the tip! I haven't checked the intake manifold itself, just the sensor connections. Could a leak there really cause all those issues?

Yes, definitely. A leak there affects the boost pressure, which would explain the symptoms. To be honest, it's probably best to take it to a workshop. They'll be able to diagnose it properly.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and it turned out to be a defective boost pressure sensor cable. They replaced it, and now it runs like a champ again. Repair cost me 95€.
