Safrane rear window heating issue

Thanks. I haven't performed a load test on the battery yet, I only checked the voltage. Which fuses specifically did you check when you experienced this issue? I'll give those a look before a more thorough battery diagnosis.

The load test is crucial. As for the fuses, if my memory serves me right, check the ones specifically labeled for 'rear window heating' and 'windshield heating' in both the interior fuse box (usually near the steering wheel) and the engine compartment fuse box. However, even with good fuses and a seemingly healthy battery, I'd recommend a workshop visit. They can properly diagnose the electrical system.

Appreciate the advice. After checking the fuses and still facing the same issue, I took it to a local workshop. Turns out the battery was indeed the culprit. Replaced it, and the rear window heating is now working perfectly, and the windshield heating is back to its usual performance. Total cost was 290€ including the new battery and labor. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

That's a pickle! I own a Safrane too, and I remember having similar troubles with my rear defroster. The symptoms you describe ring a bell, especially the windshield heating acting up alongside the rear window. Have you had the battery load tested? Sometimes, a multimeter reading can be misleading; a load test will give you a much better idea of its actual condition under stress. Did you check all fuses related to the heating system?
