Sail DPF Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Chevrolet Sail diesel is experiencing reduced engine power and smoke during acceleration, suspected to be due to a defective Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). The issue may be exacerbated by frequent short trips and city driving, which prevent proper DPF regeneration. Suggested solutions include a forced DPF regeneration or professional inspection for potential cleaning or replacement of the DPF.

I haven't tried a forced regeneration. Mostly city driving, short trips. Could that be the problem?

City driving is a DPF killer! Short trips don't allow it to properly regenerate. Get it checked by a mechanic. High backpressure confirms it. It could be DPF cleaning or, in the worst case, filter replacement. I had to get mine replaced. Cost me a small fortune.

Thanks for the insight! I'll take it to a workshop for vehicle inspection and DPF cleaning. If that doesn't fix it, I'll have to replace it. Looks like it's gonna cost around 1550€.

Sounds like DPF issues! I had similar symptoms on my Sail. Have you tried a forced DPF regeneration? What kind of driving do you usually do?
