Sail Engine Running Lean

Hi, I'm having some trouble with my 2018 Chevrolet Sail, gasoline engine, around 53968 km on the clock. Lately, the engine seems to be running lean. I've noticed reduced engine power, and the check engine light keeps popping up. The engine also runs rough, and there's some jerking when I accelerate. I've checked the air filter, and it looks clean. I'm suspecting it might be related to the fuel injection system, maybe a defective injector?

Summary of the thread

The 2018 Chevrolet Sail is experiencing issues with running lean, leading to reduced engine power, a check engine light, rough running, and jerking during acceleration. The air filter was checked and found clean, leading to suspicion of a fuel injection system issue, possibly a defective injector. A similar case was resolved by replacing a faulty fuel injector, suggesting that a visit to a mechanic for a proper diagnosis and potential injector replacement could solve the problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Interesting problem. I own a Sail as well, though I can't say I know a great deal about mechanics. I had similar symptoms a while back, and the car was almost undriveable. Was your problem only when the engine was hot, or when it was cold, too?

Thanks for your reply! The problem seems to be present regardless of whether the engine is hot or cold. It might be slightly worse when it's cold, but it's definitely noticeable even after the engine has warmed up. Did you manage to find out what the problem was in your case? Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

Ah, yes! If the problem is present regardless of temperature, it seems like our problem was similar after all. In my case, it ended up being a faulty fuel injector. I tried cleaning the throttle body and checking the oxygen sensor, but nothing seemed to work. After bringing it to a local workshop, they identified the faulty injector and replaced it. I would recommend taking your car to a trusted mechanic to get a proper diagnosis.

Thank you so much for the advice! I suspected as much, but it's good to have some confirmation. I'll take it to my mechanic and have them check the injectors. I really appreciate you sharing your experience, it saved me a lot of time. Turns out it was exactly as you said! The bill came in at 515€, but it runs like new now.
