Sail NOx Catalyst Aging
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Chevrolet Sail with 115,079 km has a check engine light indicating NOx storage catalyst aging and exhaust fume leakage. This issue is likely related to the emissions system, possibly due to a leak in the exhaust system affecting catalytic converter readings. A suggested solution is to have a professional inspection, potentially using a smoke test to identify leaks, and proceed with necessary repairs.

Thanks, the analogy helps. I did notice a slight decrease in fuel efficiency. Can the leak be easily found or fixed? What fixed it for you?

Small leaks can be tricky to find without equipment. I had a small crack in the exhaust manifold, which threw off the sensor readings and caused the NOx catalyst error. Take it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis and estimate. They can use a smoke test to pinpoint leaks and advise on the best action. That fixed it for me.

Thanks for the info and sharing your experience. I'll schedule an inspection for exhaust leaks. The estimated repair cost is 265€. I appreciate it!

Sorry to hear that. I drive a Chevrolet Sail too. Sounds like an issue I had. Could be a leak in your exhaust system messing with the catalytic converter readings. Like a tire with a slow leak – still a tire, but not performing right. Any change in fuel efficiency, or unusual exhaust smells?
