Sail Water Sensor Error
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Chevrolet Sail diesel is experiencing a check engine light and rough running, with an OBD error indicating a water sensor issue. Possible causes include a defective cable, plug, or corroded connector. Suggested solutions involve checking the wiring harness and connector for corrosion or damage, and using a multimeter to test the sensor. Ultimately, the problem was resolved by replacing a corroded connector at a workshop.

Good shout! Where's the water sensor actually located? And is there a simple way to test the sensor itself, or is it really just about checking the wiring?

The water sensor location will vary, but it's usually somewhere along the fuel filter or fuel line. As for testing, you'd need a multimeter and the wiring diagram for your car to check the signal. Honestly, given it could be the sensor, the wiring, or even the ECU playing up, it might be worth getting it checked out by a workshop. It will probably save time and money in the long run.

Cheers for the advice! Took it to the workshop in the end and you were spot on - turned out to be a corroded connector. Replaced it and all is good now. Total cost 95€.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Opel astra, although it was the oil level sensor throwing the code. Did you check the wiring harness and the connector for any corrosion or damage? Sometimes a bad connection can cause these sensors to act up. Also, have you tried clearing the code to see if it comes back?
