SantaFe AC Not Cooling
Summary of the thread
The 2008 Hyundai SantaFe's AC is not cooling, and the issue may stem from low refrigerant levels, a refrigerant leak, or problems with the AC relay or pressure switch. Checking fuses ruled out one potential cause, but diagnosing refrigerant issues or relay problems typically requires professional tools and expertise. A mechanic's inspection is recommended to identify and address the root cause, with potential repair costs estimated at 1000€.

How can I tell if there's a refrigerant leak or if it just needs more refrigerant? Can I diagnose the AC relay myself, or do I need special tools?

If you don't have an AC diagnostics kit, finding a refrigerant leak yourself is almost impossible; a tiny leak somewhere is most likely the reason why it stopped working. Best to take it to a workshop; they'll check the pressure and all the valves.

Thanks, I'll book an appointment with a mechanic for a thorough AC inspection. I got an estimate of 1000€ for the repair, potentially involving defective valves. Thanks again.

That's not great in this weather. Has the AC ever been re-gassed? It might just be low on refrigerant. Or maybe the AC relay or pressure switch?
