SantaFe AdBlue Error

Hi, I have a 2015 Hyundai SantaFe with a diesel engine and about 90k km on the clock. I'm getting an error message on the speedometer related to AdBlue, and the error memory confirms it. Now the engine won't even start. I suspect the AdBlue isn't being delivered from the tank to the dosing unit. Anyone else run into this?

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Hyundai SantaFe owner is experiencing an AdBlue error message on the speedometer, preventing the engine from starting. The issue is suspected to be a failure in delivering AdBlue from the tank to the dosing unit. A similar problem in another vehicle was resolved by addressing a malfunction in the AdBlue tank. The recommended solution is to consult a qualified automotive technician to diagnose and fix the issue, which was confirmed to be a defective AdBlue output from the tank.

Indeed, I have encountered a similar predicament with my previous vehicle, a 2017 Peugeot 3008. The symptoms you delineate suggest a malfunction within the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system, responsible for diesel exhaust emissions control via AdBlue. Such a deficiency may compromise fuel efficiency and elevate emissions. I would inquire, have you observed any service lights illuminated concurrent with these error notifications?

Thanks for the insight. Yes, the service light is on as well. Given your experience with the Peugeot, does this sound like a tank issue, or could it be something else within the SCR catalyst system? How did you resolve the problem on your car?

Given the supplementary validation afforded by the illumination of the service light, it is my considered opinion that a defect within the AdBlue delivery apparatus is highly probable. In the instance of my Peugeot, the root cause was indeed traced to a malfunctioning AdBlue tank. While I possess neither the diagnostic tools nor the requisite expertise to definitively ascertain the specific etiology of your vehicle's predicament, I would proffer the recommendation that you avail yourself of the services of a qualified automotive technician. They will have the diagnostic capabilities to check the SCR catalyst.

Appreciate the advice! Took it to the shop, and you were spot on. The AdBlue output from the tank was defective. Cost me 250€ to get it sorted. Thanks again!
