SantaFe Diesel Boost Pressure Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Hyundai SantaFe diesel is experiencing reduced engine power, poor response, stalling, increased fuel consumption, and a whistling noise turning into a hissing sound during acceleration. These symptoms suggest a potential boost pressure issue. Possible causes include a defective wastegate valve or problems with the MAP sensor or boost control components. The recommended solution is to have a professional mechanic diagnose and repair the issue, as it may be beyond simple DIY fixes.

Thanks! I haven't checked the MAP sensor specifically, but I've looked at the turbocharger and some hoses for leaks. I'm at 153030 km. What was the problem with yours, and how did you fix it?

Alright, at that mileage, it could be a wastegate valve issue. Mine was defective and causing boost pressure problems. I’d advise taking it to a trusted mechanic. They’ll be able to diagnose it properly. It’s beyond simple DIY, I think.

Thanks so much! Seems like a wastegate valve defect was the problem. Took it to my local shop, and they confirmed. Repair cost me around 860€, but the car is running smoothly again. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar issue with my SantaFe. Sounds very familiar. Have you checked the MAP sensor or any of the boost control stuff? Mine was throwing a check engine light and acting sluggish. What's your mileage?
