SantaFe Height Control Restricted

Alright, I'm pulling my hair out here. My 2010 Hyundai SantaFe diesel is giving me fits. The height control seems completely restricted. I've got the warning light blazing on the speedometer, and the low beams are aimed at either the sky or the ground. I also noticed the car looks uneven, like the front axle is sitting lower than the rear. Plugged it into a diagnostic tool and yup, error stored in the memory. Oh, and the ride feels like I'm driving over cobblestones. I'm thinking it might be the control rod on the sensor, based on some forum digging, but I'm not sure. Anyone else seen this leveling system madness?

Summary of the thread

The 2010 Hyundai SantaFe diesel is experiencing a restricted height control issue, indicated by a warning light and uneven headlight aim. The vehicle appears uneven, with the front axle lower than the rear, and the ride is rough. The problem is suspected to be related to the control rod on the sensor, a common issue with similar symptoms. The suggested solution is to check sensor connections for damage or corrosion and consider professional inspection, which confirmed the control rod as the cause.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my SantaFe. The height control going bonkers is a pain. Is the ride height fluctuating wildly, or is it just stuck in one position? Have you checked the sensor connections for corrosion or damage? A faulty sensor can definitely throw things off.

Thanks for the reply! It seems stuck, more or less. I haven't checked the sensor connections yet, but that's next on my list. Where exactly are these sensors located? And when you say 'similar issue,' was it the same symptoms – warning light, headlight aim, uneven height and bumpy ride all together?

Okay, stuck is not good. Yes, same exact symptoms: warning light, messed up headlight aim. The sensors are usually near each wheel, attached to the suspension. Honestly, with all those symptoms popping up at once, and the error code already stored, you are looking for trouble. Save yourself the grief and have a workshop take a look. It’s probably the control rod like you said.

Appreciate the confirmation. I was hoping it was something simple, but you're probably right. I'll book it into the workshop. Turns out it was the control rod like I thought – 110€ and it's all sorted. Thanks!
