SantaFe rain light sensor issue

Alright, so I've got a head-scratcher with my 2008 Hyundai SantaFe (gasoline engine). The rain-light sensor is totally bugging out. I'm getting an error code, the auto-wiping is dead, headlights won't auto-adjust, speedometer dimming is shot, and the lights are just randomly switching on! The mileage is at 48151 km. Any ideas before I lose it completely?

Summary of the thread

A 2008 Hyundai SantaFe owner experienced issues with the rain-light sensor, leading to malfunctioning auto-wiping, headlights, speedometer dimming, and random light activation. The problem was identified as bubbles forming under the gel pad of the windshield, affecting the sensor's functionality. The suggested solution was to have the sensor checked at a workshop, where the issue was resolved by addressing the bubbles under the gel pad.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds like a pain. Have you checked the sensor itself for any obvious damage?

Nah, can't see any damage. But I read something about bubbles forming under the gel pad of the windshield messing with the sensor. Could that really be it?

Yeah, those bubbles under the gel pad are known to cause issues with the rain sensor. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop to get it checked out.

Cheers! Popped into the workshop, and you were spot on – bubbles under the gel pad! 62€ later and it's all sorted. Appreciate the help!
