Santro Start Stop Issue

I'm having trouble with my 2018 Hyundai Santro gasoline model. The start-stop system isn't working. There's an error stored, the engine shuts off unexpectedly, and the warning light is on. Could it be a bad battery?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Hyundai Santro is experiencing issues with its start-stop system, including unexpected engine shutdowns and a warning light. The problem may be linked to a bad battery, as similar symptoms were resolved by replacing a battery that wasn't holding charge. It is advised to check the error code and have the battery and start-stop system inspected by a professional.

I have a Santro too, not sure of the year though. I had a similar issue a few months back. The start-stop stopped, which was annoying! Did it happen after short trips or after the car sat for a while? The eco mode was useless.

Thanks. Yes, it happened after short trips around the city. Did your car have the same symptoms, like the engine shutting off and the warning light?

Yep. The engine shut off at lights, which was concerning, and the warning light was always on. I took it to a shop; they said the battery wasn't holding charge. I'd suggest getting the error code checked.

Thanks for the confirmation and advice. I'll book an appointment to get the battery and start-stop system checked. Thanks for sharing. The repair is estimated around 290€.
